Our Church

St Columba's is a small, friendly congregation of some 85 members, served by a Priest-in-Charge. Details of our priest are on our contact page.

We gather weekly to worship God and minister to one another and our local community.

Who We Are

St. Columba's is a congregation of the Scottish Episcopal Church (Anglican) in the Diocese of Edinburgh. The Episcopal Church is a part of the world-wide Anglican Communion.

As indicated above, the congregation numbers about 85 people; attendance on Sunday at the main service is around 30-40. The Parish boundary includes Armadale, Boghall, Whitburn, Blackburn, Uphall, Broxburn, Fauldhouse and West Calder. Members of our congregation also travel from Livingston.

Young families

The profile of the congregation has changed recently and we are delighted to welcome young families with children. At the present time we offer a weekly Sunday School (except when there are special children's services), and each week we have a children's area with toys and books at the back of the church. St Columba's tries to be a very child-friendly congregation.

We also have close links with Maida Vale Residential home nearby and welcome residents from there at our services.

Our building

St Columba's is a lively and committed congregation, immensely proud of their church building and garden. Since the renovations to the building in 1998-99 we are able to use the space for a number of social events including dances, ceilidhs, supper parties, and fund-raising ventures.

Music

St Columba's has an organ but also enjoys a variety of musical styles: sometimes we are accompanied by a guitar, keyboard or saxophone. In worship we enjoy both traditional and more modern hymns and songs.
