Sunday School & Creche

At St Columba's, we enjoy having children in the services and we try to make them feel very welcome.

Approximately every six weeks our main Sunday service has a lighter form, intended to be particularly appealing to children and families.

Creche Area

As we have a growing number of babies and toddlers attending church, we have set aside an area at the back of the church where parents and children can relax with toys and books (see photograph on right). This is available every Sunday. We also have copies of the children's liturgy.

Sunday School

Except when there are dedicated family services, Sunday school meets each Sunday in the meeting room, an integral part of the church. The children join the service for communion, and at the end of the service they are invited to share what they have been doing with the remainder of the congregation.

Any child - every child - is very welcome to attend Sunday School. If you want advice, in the first place contact our local Suday School Organiser (who is also the Diocesan Youth Officer!): Mrs .

Recently we have been experimenting with "Fischy Music and with "Godly Play" the latter in particular has gathered such a good response that we are making it a central part of Sunday School. If the names as yet mean almost nothing to you, follow the links - or, rather better (though you have to be in church), speak to Morag or to one of the families with children.

We also have "Messy Church" days, but that's a term whose meaning it's far easier to guess!
